| Mighty pix in this midget
IN THE world of compact digital cameras you cannot have everything. You cannot have a tiny compact camera that produces a large image, just as you cannot have a really good wide-angle zoom in a tiny body and still have a decent file size. Well, that was the case until Panasonic broke the rules again, this time with their Lumix FX100.Not only is it a tiny, sleek, stylish put-it-in-your-top-pocket camera, it has a 28-100mm zoom using a Leica lens. And it has an image size of an astounding 12.2 megapixels. This little gem is packed with useful features as well. It has an intelligent optical image stabiliser to help with the blurring more noticeable with such good resolution. There is also an Intelligent ISO Control setting that allows the camera to raise the ISO to suit the movement of the subject.

Sony Hawaii Unveils 2008 Gadgets
HONOLULU (KHNL) -- 2008 is just around the corner and Sony unveiled some of its latest gadgets hitting stores for the new year. This year's Sony Expo showcases everything from the smallest high definition television, cameras that can recognize a smile, to a handheld device that provides audio and visual entertainment. Dozens came out Tuesday morning to check out the latest technology. Measuring three milimeters, the OLED TV has a one-million to one contrast ratio producing the clearest of images. Compact digital cameras are always a hot item. Sony's Cyber Shot cameras automatically snap a picture when a person smiles. This is the sound entertainment player that fits in the palm of your hand.
Twenty20 launches VholdR
The other day we thought that 2008 was going to be the year of the GPS, with Garmin, SatMap and others launching new, compact, outdoorsy navigational gizmos. But today 2008 is clearly going to be the year of the self-contained helmetcam. Interbike had early signs, with VIO launching its high-end, solid-state recording POV1 (although that's not really self-contained, there's a wire between the camera bit and the recorder) and GoPro flooding the world with bijou Digital Hero cameras. And now helmetcam specialists Twenty20 have stepped up with a solution that fits neatly between those two in capability and price. Behold, then, the curiously-named VholdR "wearable camcorder". Unlike its previous products, the VholdR has no wires and doesn't rely on an external recording device.
